It’s Debt Awareness Week and financial logo-headerhealth charity Step Change are encouraging UK families to use that natural new year spirit of change to really get to grips with their finances.

Launching their campaign 7 days to change, they feel confident with some simple actions, we can all make positive changes to our family finances. Including:

  • knowing exactly what you owe
  • understanding where you spend your money each month
  • knowing which payments are priorities
  • having ideas to boost your income
  • And knowing what to do next

How can FTCT help?

For many UK families, FTCT can provide a practical solution when they’re experiencing a tight financial spot.

Whilst we can’t pay arrears, debts or utility bills, we can pay for essential items while you work on those areas.

From buying a child’s school uniform for their first day at school, to providing specialist support when they’re falling behind, FTCT grants can help parents and carers just like you every day.

The pride barrier

Pride is a huge barrier for anyone asking for help, but especially for parents. Most would rather go without themselves, to make sure their kids have everything they need.

Lisa, who works at Topshop, recently received a £250 Lisa Cameo and CaroneFTCT grant towards school uniform costs for her twin boys Cameo and Carone.  Lisa actually found that applying for an FTCT grant improved her self-confidence.

“ I felt like I couldn’t provide for my children, but I knew that as a mother I have to do whatever it takes, even if that means seeking help from a charity. But asking for help changed my perception of myself. Now I feel proud to know I did the best by my boys.

“I no longer feel embarrassed, I could tell my friends and family about what I had begun to do and I no longer had to keep my situation hidden.”

Sometimes it’s easier to talk to someone who isn’t your family and many of the families who apply for an FTCT grant find it reassuring to speak to someone who understands their situation and helps many similar families everyday.

We are a small and friendly team, so you won’t need to explain your situation a hundreds of times to different people.

With just one simple form to fill in, getting help from FTCT is quick and easy. In most cases grants are turned around in just 14days, so you can get on with family life.

Getting help from FTCT is really simple, all you have to do is give us a call. To find out more, call Dora on 0300 123 9002 or fill in our online contact form.
