Francesca’s Blog- Getting help with the little things…..

Hi everyone, Francesca (Grants coordinator at FTCT) here again! Since starting at FTCT, I’ve noticed an increase in grants applications to cover basic items. Infact a massive 20% of the grants we give, go towards the little things that most of us take for granted, like clothing, bedding, school uniforms and travel.
For many years now we have been working closely with a charity called Leicester Charity Link (LCL), who refer cases like these to us. Last month I went to visit Sam, Rachel and Frank at LCL, to introduce myself and find out more about what they do.
LCL matches families from the Leicestershire and Rutland area who are experiencing poverty, hardship and crisis with organisations like FTCT, who can provide financial support.Leicester used to be an important centre of the hosiery trade; many of the families which LCL work with have a previous trade connection, making them eligible for our help.
I would like to say a big thank you to the team at LCL for taking the time to meet with me. It was great to find out more about LCL and how we can continue to raise awareness of FTCT among the families they work with.
If know the name of an organisation like LCL, who could put us in contact with families in need of help, please get in touch and tell us more.
If you or someone you know is struggling to provide those basic things for their child. Please get in touch. I’m always happy to hear from you, no matter how small (or big) your child’s needs seem.
