Great Free Activities for the Summer Holidays

The summer holidays are here! We know that filling six weeks with child-friendly activities that won’t break the bank can be a daunting prospect. So we’ve rounded up some of the best online ideas for free activities, to help. Come rain or shine, these should keep you sorted!
Mumsnet is a fantastic resource for anything parenting-related and their ideas for summer holiday activities are great. They’ve also included a handy link to lots of free printables from the Woodland Trust; the butterfly hunt sounds particularly fun!
With properties right across the UK, the National Trust can be a great choice for a family day out. They’ve compiled a list of ideas for family activities which includes picnics, bike rides and even a spot of stargazing.
Time Out is an amazing resource for finding activities in your local area. Their list of things going on around the August bank holiday has some great ideas, especially spending an hour with micro pigs at Kew Gardens. We might have to go to that one ourselves!
If you know of a child who needs additional support during the summer holidays, an FTCT wellbeing grant could help. Please contact Emma our grants coordinator on 0300 123 9002 to find out more. A small grant from FTCT can make a huge difference.
