Ildiko, Dimitrije and Violet’s story

Sharing the success stories of children and Dimitrije and Idilko picfamilies we have recently supported, is one of our greatest pleasures. This week, we are thrilled to introduce you to Ildiko, 4 years, Dimitrije, 6 years and their mum Violet, an employee of Debenhams.

Ildiko was diagnosed at birth with a rare chromosomal disorder, which affects her development in multiple and profound ways. She cannot speak or communicate; she has motor coordination issues and behavioural problems as well as being diagnosed as Autistic. Ildiko needs specialist clothing, which can be very expensive. In addition, this makes it difficult for the family to find money for clothing for their son Dimitrije. Violet worked as an assistant pattern cutter for six years and most recently on the shop floor at Debenhams. She saw an FTCT poster in her staff canteen and got in touch to find out if we could help.

Violet told FTCT, With the grant from FTCT we were able to buy her a new wardrobe full of overalls and onesies. Ildiko especially loves her new polka dot raincoat which she still wears with enthusiasm today. Dimitrije’s wardrobe was minimal before we received the grant and I was finally able to buy also some more clothes for him too. We cannot express how thankful we were as a family to receive a grant from FTCT and how easy and comfortable the application was.”

If you know a child like Idilko and Dimitrije, who could use a helping hand, please contact Emma, our grants co-ordinator on 0300 123 9002. A small grant from FTCT can make a huge difference.
