Industry leaders back FTCT at special business breakfast event

The UK’s fashion retail leaders turned up en masse today to support the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust at a special business breakfast event in London’s West End.

Award-winning journalist Jeff Randall and the editor of Retail Week magazine Tim Danahar provided expert analysis on the big issues facing retailers.

Also at the event was the mum of a child the charity has supported over the last few years, who bravely stood up in front of all those people to make a short presentation… no small order, considering the audience (Sir Philip Green along with 30 other industry chiefs!).

It was a short but powerful speech, explaining how the charity had stepped in to provide a helping hand in the midst of a desperate situation, which has directly contributed to a complete turnaround for her and her son. It was great for all of us to hear this and a proud moment for everyone involved with the charity.

Straight after the event I received several congratulatory emails from people who had come along, but I’d like to share a couple of excerpts if I may:

I always leave your breakfasts overwhelmed by admiration for what you are doing, today was no exception. It really does put our busy lives in perspective.”

“…thanks for a great event today. Really good people and discussion. I thought i was going to cry at the lady’s story!

Thank you for a splendid breakfast today. As ever, your event is worth finding time for: Jeff was first-class but my highlight was the mum’s moving talk

Thank you to everyone who contributed to today’s business breakfast, particularly the event’s generous sponsor, Accenture – thank you again.
