The 2018 London Marathon is almost here – Sunday 22 April! Our two marathon runners are bulking up on carbs, stretching the lycra and enjoying the last week of the marathon training schedule. And in their ‘spare’ time, they are raising funds that will impact children’s lives.

Heidi Newman and Chris Grounds are running the marathon and raising funds to support their industry. They are taking huge steps in their fundraising with Heidi raising over £5,000 and Chris almost £2,000 – THAT’S AWESOME!!

Go Heidi, Go!

Heidi Newman, Production Manager at Karen Millen has doubled her fundraising target (originally set at £2,500) with funds being split between FTCT and Aid International (a charity supporting worthwhile charitable projects around the world). With sample sales, office bingo, raffles and cake sales – support from family, friends and work colleagues has been immense!

Heidi’s fundraising is currently at £5,035. If you would like to add to Heidi’s fund, you can donate here and catch up on the last week of marathon training in her blog.

Good luck Groundsy!

Chris Grounds is Head of Operations at Pep&Co and is doing an awesome job in raising funds for FTCT. He is well on his way to crossing the fundraising finishing line, reaching nearly £2,000 already. The Pep&Co Pub Quiz raised £120, with bonus rounds and beer – what’s not to love! Well done Chris and colleagues. You can say cheers and add a donation for Chris – don’t forget to gift aid your donation if you are eligible.

Our opportunity to say ‘thank you’

Running a marathon is not easy – not only is it gruelling on the body, but it takes time for training, preparation and for fundraising. That’s why we are so grateful to Chris and Heidi for taking on this amazing challenge. We hope it achieves a lifetime ambition for them both and that it is a rewarding experience.

We also know their fundraising will change the lives of the many children who receive a grant. On their behalf we say a very heartfelt thank you. Please check out the FTCT website for some real life stories of families who have received an FTCT grant.

Supporting families who work in the UK fashion and textile industry

The money donated to FTCT will go towards helping families in the industry – that’s children who have a parent (or main carer) working in fashion and textiles. A grant is a financial donation to families who are in financial crisis and can be used for essential equipment for their child. Grants are also available for children with additional needs.
