Laura has worked for the NBrown group for over 20 years, in the company’s IT department. She found out about FTCT through her manager and approached the charity for funding for her eldest son Owen (pictured). Here Laura tells their story.

“When I saw the email about FTCT, I thought I would get in touch about my eldest son Owen. We suspected he had additional learning needs and were seeking help to fund specialist tests.”

“Although FTCT couldn’t help with the test, they gave us a grant towards essential items- clothing, school shoes and new bedding for all the boys. This freed up the money for us to pay for Owen’s test ourselves, which confirmed he has dyslexia and dyspraxia.”

I just didn’t think there were charities out there to help families like ours. I thought charities were for families who have nothing. My partner and I both have jobs and we make ends meet where we can, by juggling all our family expenses.

“It was really easy to apply for an FTCT grant and the FTCT grants team were really helpful. Our FTCT grant really helped us to get Owen sorted and has been so helpful for our family.”
