Why we need your help 

As we enter the summer break, the new school year approaches bringing a new set of challenges for families living in financial hardship. While kids are excited about lesson free days with their friends, countless parents across the UK and in our industry are already feeling stressed and worried about back-to-school costs.

According to our recent survey 75% of parents working in fashion and textiles find the financial burden of back to school expenses extremely stressful, while 54% admit they have used credit plans to pay for their child's school uniform.*

Uniforms, tablets, bus passes, after school care – each item on the back-to-school checklist represents another financial hurdle for parents already struggling to make ends meet.

Easing the Back-To-School Worry for Mia and Jonah

Joy is Mum to Mia 14 and Jonah 5. She works at the John Lewis Partnership. Here Joy shares her story of applying for an Back To School grant with the FTCT. 

“I’m a single mum. At the time of applying I was working less hours and had debts to pay off. With the rising cost of logo school uniform I turned to the FTCT for help.”
