If you are a parent raising a child with a disability or additional needs, an FTCT grant could help with specialist equipment, therapies, sensory toys and more.

The first step in applying is to complete our online enquiry form

To apply, you must be able to answer yes to the following:

  • You are the parent or full-time carer for a child aged up to 18 years.

  • You or your partner works (or has worked) in the UK fashion and textile industry for a minimum of 1 year, within the last nine years.

What do we mean by fashion and textiles? Check this list of companies and job titles which fit into our criteria.

Please note, if you have worked in any part of a supermarket that sells a clothing range, this gives you a valid trade connection and you can apply.

Still not sure? Just give our Grants Team a ring on 0300 123 9002 and they will be happy to advise.

What we fund

Here are just a few examples of the specialist items we can fund:

  • Mobility equipment
  • Seating aids
  • Sensory toys
  • Specialist clothes
  • Courses of therapy

Products should be selected to suit your child's individual needs. If you have a particular item in mind, including cost, please list this on your enquiry form.

If you are no longer in work, but you or your partner has worked in the fashion and textile industry for more than one year, (within the last 9 years) you can still apply for a grant.

"I am so glad we applied. FTCT supported us and we were able to buy Robin's new chair. It has given us more options and choices for getting out the house and has made a huge difference to Robin's mental wellbeing too. He is more confident in public places and has even started sailing with a disability charity." Robin's Mum Natalie. Read Robin's story

How to apply

We don't want to flood parents with forms to fill in, and try to keep our application process quick and simple. In most cases forms are only one page long and require minimal supporting documents. Find out more about our application process.

Educational Support

We can consider a contribution towards support such as school fees or private tutors, however only when there is no state provision for the needs of the child.

Need can be defined as medical, mental health or complex educational needs.

Applications must be supported with evidence from professionals working with the family; including social worker, health professional, case worker or teacher.

Help for all the family

Our grants do not just help children with disabilities or additional needs. It's likely you have other children in the family. FTCT grants can help fund essential items, like clothing, bedding and shoes for siblings too.
