A donation from Great Grandmother Lucy's sewing machine


Donating proceeds from the sale of household goods is a brilliant way to support our charity. That’s exactly what one donor did, when the time came to sell her Great Grandmother’s old sewing machine. We caught up with them, to find out the heartwarming story behind this special machine.

“The sewing machine has been in our family for years and the serial number dates back to 1920. Great Grandmother Lucy used it to sew ladies blouses in order to support herself and her children after her husband passed away.”
“It was important for the money from the sale of the machine to go to a relevant charity and the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust seemed ideal.”
